The Locals Nomadic Geek is a program designed to expose people to technology-based education, to recruit more people to become part of the tech community in Conway, encourage them to learn from one another, and inspire them to get creative with cutting-edge technology.  As part of this program The Locals will be popping up around Conway with fun Raspberry Pi and Arduino workshops. Whether your are an experienced programmer or a newbie, The Locals Nomadic Geek workshops will offer an exciting way to expand your skills and explore the creative uses for technology.

The Locals Nomadic Geek will offer two types of events; Make-n-Take, and Do it Together workshops.

Our Make-n-Take activity for the summer of 2015 is tagIR, a fun laser tag game based around the Adafruit Trinket (programmable like the Arduino).  You can read more about our inspiration and ideas on the blog post that started things off, or check out our latest tutorial with a bit more how-to on tagIR.  You can buy a tagIR badge at our pop-up markets in Conway, or order the parts yourself and build your own. Either way we hope you will share your tagIR experience with us and help us continue to improve and grow the project. Follow along and join the conversation on Twitter and Instagram with #tagIR.

Thanks to a generous donation from Axciom Corporation  Do it Together (DiT) workshops are offered at ZERO cost to participants. In DiT workshops participants will work with Raspberry Pi to create devices that will interact with the world around them... Internet of Things basics for any skill level. Let's spend our summer hanging out in parks, making stuff and have fun. You can find out about the next event in the series on our events calendar.
